Danielle Sansone’s “Two Flowers”

Danielle Sansone's collection of lullabies is sweet and soothing, with the Atlanta-based singer-songwriter turning in beautiful singing and and standout songwriting. Her lilting vocals lift and calm simultaneously. The song arrangements are nicely done, with violins and a cello adding to the mood and mandolin and harpsichord making an appearance on several cuts.

Danielle’s voice is reminiscent of Natalie Merchant or Eda Maxym of Beasts of Paradise, and the album's musical style blends folk country with a slight Celtic edge. I suppose I’d just describe it as enchanting and very easy to love. Tim said simply "it doesn’t get any better than this album." Presented as an album of lullabies, it certainly is that, but it is also an album of love songs, and it is as easy for an adult to get swept up in them as it is for a child.

Our favorites were Track 12, "One More," which stopped Tim dead in his tracks to listen intently, and "Shimmering," which made me long once more to hold my baby daughter, long grown up and married.

You can hear samples from each track on Amazon.com, where the album is available as an MP3 download for $9 and individual tracks are 99 cents. You can also buy the album from CDBaby, or learn more about Danielle on her website. - Karen
