The NY Times plays host to an
interesting discussion about the
level of drinking among the characters of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." Seeing not-infrequent bouts of teenage drinking "recreated on the big screen, the images of teenage drinking are jarring. Previous Harry Potter movies have shown drinking, but this one takes it to a new level."
What do you think? Do images of drinking among the teenagers of Hogwarts encourage destructive behavior among the series' teenage and preteen audience, or would you be equally unconcerned if they were Hufflepuffing on hand-rolled fluxweed cigarillos?
A lot of thoughtful comments on this
post from The Well.

It’s all over - not that I would let my kids watch “Gossip Girl,” but those characters are in high school and they spend half of each episode in some swanky NY bar....
As a teacher, I can say that the images seen on tv manifest themselves in my students’ writing and drawings...even as young as 6 years old…
