The early years of Sesame Street featured spontaneous and fresh encounters with young children that are the polar opposite of the canned spam seen in most prime-time television that uses kids for laughs. Of the kids who routinely showed up on those early episodes, I'd say the toddler John-John and Joey were among the best. Such children were routinely paired up with the same puppet to normalize their interactions as much as possible; John-John was partnered with Bert, and Joey with Kermit. John-John is young enough in most of his appearances that he can appear genuinely stunned by the things Bert says, while Joey is always touching Kermit very tenderly like she just can't get enough of him.
